Shaheed-E-Mohabbat Boota Singh
The film is set in 1947. The exodus has begun after Partition. A Sikh ex-military man in his thirties finds a 16-year-old Muslim girl alone in a nearby village and brings her home. But the villagers tell him he should either marry her or leave her in a camp where people bound for Pakistan are located. But he decides that since he is far older, he would better leave her at the camp. As he is about to send her off with a man bound for the camp and who is prepared to marry her there, she asks Buta Singh, if he is so poor that he cannot even feed her two Rotis per day to keep her alive...

Mother
Single and lusty Asha's (Rekha) affairs with three men (Randhir Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan, Jeetendra) lands her with a baby-girl, and she must relocate to distant Mauritius to start life anew. She makes up a story about her husband, Mr. Brittania, while admitting her daughter in school, heroically saving lives of numerous Indians and being unable to save himself. Now Asha has a grown up daughter, Jiya (Sanober Kabir). She finds out that Jiya wants to marry Mrs. Chaudhary's (Shashikala) grandson, Raj (Rahat Khan). Asha's three beaus also contact her one by one that they will be coming, with their respective wives and families to tow, to visit Mauritius. Asha's past is now coming back to haunt her, and Asha must use all her wits to see herself through this crisis.

Kadhal Kavithai

The story moves to London, where Vishva visits Princess Diana's grave and leaves a beautiful poem behind. At the same time, Jothi too visits the grave and leaves a note after reading the poem. Then begins a warm relationship between Jothi and Vishwa without seeing each other. Whether the two are united form the rest of the story.

Wajood
Malhar (Nana Patekar), who is born to a poor typist clerk, is a versatile character who wins trophies in dramas but is never appreciated by his father. While writing and directing dramas in his college he meets Apoorva (Madhuri Dixit), a very rich girl, and falls madly in love with her. When she wins the Best Actress Award, she calls upon Malhar on stage and gives all the credit to him. Malhar misunderstands this gestures as Apoorva's love for him.
The Legend of 1900
Musician Max Tooney goes to sell his prized Conn trumpet to a music shop, where he plays the instrument one last time. The shopkeeper recognises the song as one on a record matrix he found and asks who the piece is by. Tooney tells the story of an infant found abandoned in the first class dining room of the four-stacker ocean-liner SS Virginian on 1 January 1900. Danny Boodman, a coal-man from the boiler room, names the boy Danny Boodman T. D. Lemon 1900, after himself, the fruit crate the boy was found in, and the year, and raises him as his own.

Krishna alias Kris Sahani lives in New York, but decides to travel to his homeland in order to act in a movie. While Ricardo Fernandes leaves Australia to travel to Bombay in search of his missing brother, Roger. And finally, Zeres Mistry, from London also travels to Bombay to find his true love. The paths of all three NRIs cross in the taxi to Colaba, and they decide to stick together. They find an apartment, owned by a gay landlord, Pesi Shroff, who openly and lovingly eyes a visibly uncomfortable Zeres. Things do not go well for Kris as he is asked by Filmmaker, Don Mastana, to act in a movie that is slated to be the worst movie in Bollywood history. Ricardo finds himself at the mercy of the local police, who make it clear to him that they have better things to do than look for his missing brother. It is only a matter of time before the hapless trio to realize that their respective hopes and dreams are soon to turn to hopelessness and nightmares - from which there is no escape.
